Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Fremont, CA

The company is an innovative manufacturer of biotech / life science research instruments and analysis software. Their products are used by scientists across the world in pharmaceutical, CRO, cancer research institutions, and academic research institutions. Due to company growth, they now have an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Manufacturing Engineer.

The Role:

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Leads, trains, guides and helps test technicians on their daily activities, priorities and schedules.

Reviews and provides input on Final Test Procedures and evaluates Final Test Results. Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.

Works effectively with other departments (Quality, Supply Chain) to ensure that the production area has all necessary inputs in place to achieve the desired production outputs.

Provides input on Bills of Materials for accuracy and completeness.

Documents any Non-Conforming Material for processing through Supplier Quality process.

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.

The Requirements:

Bachelor or Master’s Degree in; Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering; or a related Engineering field.

Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, or related engineering position.

Experience working with multi-sub-system equipment including electronic, optical, fluidic, and application software sub-systems is a plus.
