Location: Durham, UK

The company is a global leading manufacturer of X-ray and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) equipment. Their solutions offer a comprehensive portfolio of tools, based on AFM and X-ray technologies including XRR (X-ray reflectometry), XRF (X-ray fluorescence), XRD (X-ray diffraction), XRDI (X-ray diffraction imaging). They now have an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Systems Engineer.

The role:

You will be responsible for designing complete and complex frameworks, systems, or products.

Defining processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.

Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyse, and resolve system design weaknesses.

Influence future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.

Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation developments.

Lead new product developments of tool architecture and design.

The requirements:

Degree in Engineering or a physical sciences subject, or equivalent experience; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering.

Experience as an engineering role, preferably in Semiconductor metrology.

Experience with optical systems/ PLC systems would be advantageous.

Be a self-starter able to work independently as well as part of a small team on challenging problems

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
